I have downloaded the FLOCK! demo both on Gamershell and Steam, and have been unable to launch this game. All I get is a black screen, then a popup message with "Operation completed successfully" on it, with one of the filenames as the window title. When I click on OK, the window closes and I'm back on my Windows desktop. I have the latest patches for my gcard (GeForce 8800GTX, Windows XP is up to date,...), and this is the second Capcom downloadable game that has this effect on my computer (the first one being Age of Booty, where I suspect the SecuROM DRM might be the cause). Are there any logs I could submit for troubleshooting ? Thanks in advance, ClémentXVII |

Hi there, So far we've had a few people asking about this - we're pretty sure that if you update your Direct X to the very latest version you should be fine. Hopefully that helps, it's a fun little game (but then we're biased!) so we hope you get to try it out and make up your own mind... |

Hmm, strange : when I use DxDiag to verify my DirectX files, the latest files are dated 27/10/2008 (dinput8.dll, d3dref9.dll and d3d9d.dll (it's a debug version)). However, I thought there was a March revision of the DirectX runtime, but when I dowload it (from the Microsoft site), it says the following ([EDIT] Same issue with the DirectX Websetup and Redist):
Sooo... is it possible that the DirectX SDK prevents me from installing a more recent version of DirectX? Is there something else I might check ?
Thanks a lot, I'm already following this game since its announcement ;) |

OK, I found the culprit : there seems to be an incompatibility between Flock! and Windowblinds. So, until this is fixed, use the following as a workaround (Instructions are for XP, may vary for Vista): a) Unload WindowBlinds completely
b) Configure WindowBlinds for not skinning Flock!
You are now ready to let loose the sheeps of war !!! Enjoy.
[EDIT] Is it possible to mark this post as "resolved"? I couldn't find how to change the title. |

Clément: marked as resolved -- glad you figured out what the problem is -- I'd never guess that. I'll ask customer support to add it to the DB :) |
